Austinburg - Joann Gianantonio, age 82, died unexpectedly on April 16, 2024 at Metro General Hospital. Joann was born April 10, 1942 to Lillian (nee Taylor) and Edwin Gianantonio in Cleveland but spent most of her life in and around Rock Creek. She graduated from Rock Creek High School in 1960 where she formed some of her most cherished and life-long friendships with classmates. Joann raised four children: Jackie, Sherri, Gary and Scott with Ben Godleski in Jefferson and was the proud and loving Grandma to three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Her career spanned from positions at Jefferson Manufacturing and R.W. Sidley, to weekends manning one of her father’s concession stands at local fairs and festivals, to volunteering in numerous programs at the Eagleville Bible Church. One of her greatest joys in life was meeting new people. She was generous to a fault and gave out her signature hugs freely. As an active senior, the highlight of many of her days was lunching with friends at the Jefferson Congregate Food Center. Joann was an avid quilter. On other days, you could find her relaxing on her deck amongst her many bird feeders overlooking the river hoping to spot a soaring eagle, or just the solitude of watching the ships and eagles in Ashtabula Harbor. She is survived by her sister, Judy Parker (Dick); daughters: Jacquelynn Godleski and Sherri Presley (Kevin); sons: Gary Godleski (Jennifer) and Scott Godleski (Marcy); grandchildren: Katie Presley (Tommy), Kendall Presley, and Ryan Presley; and great-grandchild, Rowyn Presley. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as her beloved cats, Abbie and Indie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lillian; brothers Edwin, Bob, Dennis.
